The brand is a successful producer of casual sportswear for men and women, with strong focus on denim, footware, accessories, swim-wear and home furnishings. The merchandise is available at Nordstrom, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Neiman Marcus as well as various outlets across the world. Some of them feature a Tommy Bahama Restaurant and bar, for instance, one was opened in 2009 at the new Yankee Stadium in New York.
Unlike the rest of my family, I am not a fashion buff, but I do like comfortable clothes. And one of my favorite items to wear is Tommy Bahama T-Shirts. In the following report I will talk about the Online Tommy Bahama Outlet and why this is one of my personal favorites, because aside from their cool products, they actually have an excellent website that makes online shopping as easy as it gets.

Okay, when you get on the manufacturer’s website, you will be provided with a high level selection of choices.

Also, make note of the upper right hand corner: this is your shopping cart, well, they call it “items preview-checkout”, but this section is static, which means no matter where you online shopping may lead you to, you will always have full visibility on the items you put in your cart. You would think that should be a standard feature, but the fact of the matter is, it’s not. So that’s certainly something that I do like a lot. In addition to that, most of the time there is some sort of promotion going on, so check for any announcements right above the navigation bar.
Shopping for an item
I am in need of a decent polo shirt, nothing fancy but still good enough to visit the in-laws without getting comments regarding my sometimes inadequate attire ;-). So after clicking on “Men” and then on “Polos” I get a selection of matching products:
In a next step, I just click on the polo I’m interested in. I like the “Superfecta”, so let’s go with that one. Even though zooming and/or enlarging a product image is a standard feature these days, most of the time this function is not really useful. The designers of the Online Tommy Bahama Outlet, though, did a great job in actually turning this into something useful and valuable. You can hover with a magnifying glass over the product image and then just click to enlarge a particular section:
Most of the items come in a broad variety of colour and sizes. So once you made up your mind on the product, the color and the size and quantity, you just hit “add to bag”.
The shopping bag and checkout
Here is what I probably like the most about the whole Tommy Bahama Outlet. The shopping bag as well as the checkout process is easy and fast. I’m a huge amazon-fan, but I always get annoyed when it’s check out time, because there are too many questions and too many screens because my order is finally placed. But that’s not an issue here. You can check out within a couple of clicks. But first, let’s look at the shopping bag:
It’s nicely structured and the functions available to you are self-explanatory. What I like here is the fact that you can easily change the quantity of any given item without jumping through hoops. I suggest that you create your own user account because this will allow you to check out even quicker the next time you shop at the Tommy Bahama Outlet. But if you don’t want to do that, there is also a “guest check out” option.
Shipping
First the bad news, there is no free shipping. However, I think there shipping rate structure is absolutely reasonable.

I usually just go with the regular ground shipping for $8 and my orders come within 5 business days and that’s perfectly fine for me. I am a regular customer and I never ever had any issues with their products or service. All the clothing is made of high quality materials. They are not necessarily cheap, because quality has its price. However, in my opinion, the price range is very reasonable - otherwise I wouldn’t shop there.
Customer Service
Since I never ran into any issues, I can’t really speak to that. However, at some point I did have a general question and I sent them an email. I got a response within a couple of hours!
My Opinion
The brand is probably best known for the shirts but recently Tommy Bahama Furniture has experienced a real boost in demand. The brand’s portfolio features a broad selection including Indoor Rugs, Ceiling Fans, Outdoor Fabrics, Indoor Fabrics, Outdoor Furniture and Indoor Furniture. The sophisticated designs merge fine art and island themes. The furnishings are rich in personality and crafted for classy relaxations and retreats. While the core features and designs are based on casual concepts, the materials and fabrics impart a sense of lush and luxury.
However, I can only speak for the clothing which never disappointed me. So if you are looking for practicality and comfort wrapped into a casual theme, you can’t go wrong with the Tommy Bahama Outlet.
